Why we built it

A large download number does not tell the whole story. Gaming, video calls, streaming and remote work also depend on latency, consistency and whether requests arrive successfully. We built one compact test that reports download, upload, ping, jitter and request loss together.

What makes the test independent

InternetSpeedTest.io is not an internet service provider and does not sell broadband plans. Results are calculated from traffic exchanged between your browser and our test route at the moment you start a test. Ratings use published thresholds described in our methodology.

Accuracy before certainty

A browser test is a point-in-time estimate, not a promise about your line. Device performance, Wi-Fi, congestion, server distance and route changes can affect a result. We explain those limits instead of presenting a measurement as something it cannot prove.

Who writes and reviews the guidance

The InternetSpeedTest.io Editorial Team maintains the measurement explanations and troubleshooting guides alongside the product. We document calculations, distinguish estimates from measured facts, review material changes and correct confirmed errors under our editorial and corrections policy.
