Website measurements and connection information
When you start a test, your browser sends uncached requests to this website's /api/network endpoint. Response times, transferred byte counts, request failures and timestamps are used to calculate your results. Download and upload tests transfer real data and can use a metered data allowance. Your IP address and normal HTTP request information are visible to the hosting service.
The provider-information function requests our own profile endpoint. Our server may send your public IP to IPwho.is to retrieve an approximate country, city and provider. This website release does not send a separate browser request to Cloudflare metadata or directly to IPwho.is. These are functional connection-information requests, not Google Analytics or advertising requests. IP-based location can be inaccurate. We do not request precise GPS permission. The displayed measurement server is the website's test server.
Read the IP geolocation provider privacy policy and hosting provider privacy policy for their processing practices. Processing locations and operational-log retention depend on these providers; we do not claim a retention period we cannot verify.
Preferences, results and worksheets
The website uses browser local storage for language and theme preferences (plt-lang and plt-theme). The Connection Lab worksheet holds your entered measurements and notes only in the open page's memory; reloading or closing it clears them. It does not upload worksheet values or automatically save them.
Use the browser's site-data settings to remove local preferences. A copy, print or save action that you choose can create a separate copy of your results or notes. Review it before sharing, and delete copies wherever you saved them. The Android history described below is separate from the browser worksheet.
Advertising, consent and analytics on this website
Google Analytics remains disabled. The website loads Google's consent-management service first. The AdSense advertising script loads only after a valid advertising permission on an eligible reading page. This initial request shares normal connection information with Google to retrieve the applicable privacy message; it is not itself your permission to serve advertising.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google's certified consent platform presents purposes and advertising partners. You can accept, reject or manage choices there. Our additional gate allows advertising only after a valid positive consent decision. Outside that region, advertising remains blocked unless you explicitly allow non-personalized Google ads in our privacy settings. Non-personalized ads can still use cookies or local storage for delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. We honor an enabled Global Privacy Control by keeping advertising blocked.
Advertising is eligible only on guide and Connection Lab reading pages, not on the speed-test interface, legal pages or error pages. Actual display also depends on Google approving the site and available ads. A saved consent decision does not guarantee that an ad will appear.
Open Privacy and cookie settings to change or withdraw permission at any time. Withdrawal immediately pauses new advertising requests and reloads the page to stop existing advertising frames; it does not erase processing already performed or third-party records. In Europe you can then revisit Google's purposes and partners. If the consent service fails or a decision cannot be determined, advertising stays blocked. Hosting, security and contact
Hosting and network providers may process IP addresses, user agents, requested URLs and errors to deliver the service, maintain security and diagnose failures. The website does not require an account. Do not place passwords or sensitive personal information into test notes or support messages. Contacting support sends the information you choose to include to our support mailbox and its email provider.
For privacy questions or applicable access, correction or deletion requests, email info@internetspeedtest.io. Browser-only data should be removed on your own device; the website cannot remotely delete copies you exported or shared. Your rights depend on the laws applicable to you. We may need sufficient information to identify the request, but do not send identity documents or passwords unsolicited.
The service is not directed to children. This policy separates the website release from the Android release; changes to one do not automatically change the other.
Internet Speed Test IO — Android app
This section describes the ad-free Android release 2.3. Advertising is disabled in this release. The existence of an AdMob account does not activate ads in the app.
Network requests
The app sends HTTPS measurement requests to speed.cloudflare.com to calculate download, upload and HTTP response timings. Tests consume internet data. The receiving service necessarily sees the source IP and technical request information. The app requests provider information from ipwho.is. It does not request GPS access.
HTTP timing variation and failed HTTP requests are diagnostics, not direct IP packet-loss measurements. Results describe the connection to the test service at that time, not a guaranteed service speed.
Saved history and preferences
The app stores results and preferences in app-private device storage. History contains measurement results, timestamps, network-provider information, connection type, test mode, payload byte counts and an optional room label entered by you. It retains up to 500 results. Room labels are manual: the app does not detect rooms or track movements. Automatic Android backup is disabled.
Clear saved results on the History page. Clearing app data through Android settings removes app preferences and history; uninstalling removes app-private data. Exported copies are separate and must be deleted wherever you saved or shared them.
Optional sharing and reports
You initiate sharing using Android's share interface and choose the recipient app. Result images and PDF reports omit IP addresses and room labels. They can include provider names, test timestamps and measurements. A recipient app handles the shared copy according to its own privacy policy.
Advertising and analytics in release 2.3
This release excludes Google Mobile Ads, UMP and analytics SDKs. It makes no advertising requests. Before a future advertising-enabled release, this policy and applicable consent and privacy controls must be updated.
Security and third-party processing
Configured network requests use HTTPS. Network providers may retain operational logs under their own policies; we do not claim to control their retention periods. Read the Cloudflare privacy policy and IP geolocation provider privacy policy.
